The products of the land of Arachova are famous. All visitors have to savor them, especially the olives, the olive oil, the old brouskou wine, the Parnassos Feta, and, most of all, the Formaella. Also, famous products in Arachova are the traditional carpets, called carpitia.
One of the most important steps to the Arachova's development is the Parnassos Ski Center, which is the biggest ski center in Greece, and it operates from December until the first days of May. It is between the two highest Parnassos peaks, the Fterolakkas and Kelaria positions, and in height of 1600 - 2250 meters. The construction in Fterolakkas position ended in 1976, and in Kelaria position in1981. The Parnassos Ski Center is an attraction place for hundreds of skiers, and its special benefit is its position in Central Greece, in a small distance from Athens, Patra and Lamia.
Although Arachova has an expanded development, it keeps its traditional character, its customs and traditions, like the three-day feast, the famous "Panigiraki". It is a religious feast for the honor of the patron Saint George, and it is also connected with the battle of 1826.
The existence of 35 churches in Arachova is an evidence of the deep faith of the local residents.
At the west exit of the town, there is a marble bust of G. Karaiskakis, on the rocks, which is a symbolic victory trophy. Beautiful places in the center of the town are: the Hour Stone, wrapped in Ivy, and the Neoclassical building of the primary school.
Considerable experience for every visitor is the Easter or the day of Saint George. These feasts in Arachova acquire a new meaning to the procession of the silver image of their patron Saint George, with men in foustanelas and women in segkounia, with delicious grilled meat, the appetizers and wine to the pits!
HISTORICAL MONUMENTS
The history of Parnassida and Dorida goes together with the history of humans. Its culture has started in the pre-historic times and some traces of this history have been preserved by myths until our times. Delphi, with its imposing sacred monuments, such as the temples of Apollo and Pronaea Athena, the Oracle, the Stadium and the Theater, as well as sites around them, such as the Korykion Andron cave and Lykauria, constitutes the pan-Hellenic spiritual centre. During ancient times, Delphi was the most important religious and cultural center. The enigmatic statements given by the Oracle were seriously taken into account not only by individuals but also by whole communities, thus affecting the flow of history. Delphi used to receive and collect a large amount of health. It became widely and for this reason it has been named the navel of the earth.
